where is the snow???

     As many people have probaly relized there is not a lot of snow outside right now. This means bad things one major think is all the mountains right now are making their own snow and that snow is not the best and it can turn to ice quick. This makes in not run to ride or ski on it, the ice is too slippery and when you fall you don't come to a nice fall and stop you will end up sliding for a little and it will hurt. When you are sliding you might even rip your jacket and ruin your snow pants. The only way to solve all these issues is SNOW which currently is not falling like it should be. So I am going to leave you with one question where is the snow??

What going on

     Not many mountains are open right now because there is not that much snow. Most of the snow that they have if they are open is snow that they have made. This snow is not the best and not really fun to ride on, it quickly goes to horrible conditions and gets icy fast. This is not fun or is it good for your snowboard or skis. I have gone at this time of year and scratched my snowboard worse than I could going all year in one day. There is not many mountains open right now most of them are the biggest mountains here are the mountains that are open and a link to the conditions. Sunday River  and Sugarloaf, These are the mountains that are currently open in the state of Maine.  More will be opening as soon as they get some snow and the temperatures start getting colder.

Biggest person in Snowboarding

     Shaun White at this point right now is the biggest name in this sport, he has made this name from a number of big wins. Shaun is from Carlsbad, CA that is his home town but his home mountain Park City Utah. He started to become big in 2006 when he won the winter Olympics half pipe scoring a 46.8 (50 is the highest possible score). He has change the entire snowboarding half pipe with 14 top 3 finishes in the big name tournaments. 
     Shaun has not only changed snowboarding he has changes skateboarding too. He started getting big in skateboarding around the same time that he started getting his name noticed in the snowboarding sport. This was in 2003 when he won both summer and winter X-Games in two different sports. He has made many records and the first one to many things in both sports.
     Many of the kids and teenagers that are in the sport look up to "the flying tomato" (one of many nick names for Shaun cause of his long red hair). He has brought many things in to this sport that many people would not think of and proving to people that the impossible is possible. For starters

Snowboard can get expensive depending on what you buy for a board and bindings. I would recommend that if it is your first time to just rent because it might just not be your thing. Once you really start to get into it you might want to up grade to your own board. When you get to this point you are better off to go with a big name brand because if something breaks you will be able to find parts much easier. Along with this though is many mountains, every mountain has snowboarding and skiing classes. There is not just one mountain that is better than others for beginners most of them have what are called bunny slopes which are made for beginners. Which is where everybody started out.

How I got into snowboarding.

Snowboarding has been a big part of my life. I have been doing it since I was around five years old when my cousin braught me for my first time. I spent a lot of my time with him cause he kept pushing me till I could do everything without him helping me. I have moved on since he helped me, since that him and I have manage to get our whole family back in to it and have been around most moutains in New England. With a agreement that we all love Saddleback Mtn. in Rangeley Maine.
